This study examines university students enrolled in the Autonomous Major Selection System (AMSS), focusing on their perceptions of multiple majors and the factors influencing their satisfaction with university life. A total of 399 students from C University in Daejeon participated in an online survey conducted from May 3 to May 10, 2025. The questionnaire covered perceptions of multiplemajors, expected benefits, instructional preferences, and psychological and experiential factors such as self-efficacy, emotional support, and campus engagement. Descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. The results revealed that students value multiple majors for enhancing employability and interdisciplinary learning, yet show reservations toward active learning methods such as PBL and FL. Regression analysis identified academic-social network formation, emotional support, and extracurricular participation as significant predictors of university life satisfaction. These findings suggest that student-centered support systems and awareness strategies are essential for successful implementation of multiple majors within the AMSS.

This study This study aimed to examine the factors influencing major satisfaction, career decision-making, and micro-degree (MD) course satisfaction among South Korean university students enrolled in psychology-related MD programs. A total of 93 undergraduate students participated in the study through an online survey, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression. The findings showed that MD course satisfaction and multiple major intentions significantly predicted major satisfaction, while seasonal session plans predicted career decision-making. MD course satisfaction was influenced by both major satisfaction and seasonal session plans. These results highlight the impact of MD experiences and proactive academic behaviors on students’ educational satisfaction and career development. The study suggests that micro-degree programs play a pivotal role in enhancing academic engagement and guiding future curriculum design in higher education.

A global crisis is when organizations fight for survival, and no matter how hard they try to continue their operations, these efforts entail costs for their stakeholders. Private higher education institutions began the digitalization process late. The COVID-19 pandemic crisis accelerated this process. Education 4.0, the result of the digitalization process, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet of Things, requires the development of disruptive environments capable of promoting efficiency in collaborative environments. Few studies have focused on understanding the internal management of a private higher education institution. The objective of this work is to demonstrate how Education 4.0 can help in the creation of collaborative environments. Using the case study method, this paper shows how, after the government decreed a lockdown, the educational institution transferred all its inperson academic activities to remote teaching in just four days, avoiding the cancellation of enrollments and promoting the institution's financial survival.

Introduction: The mental health of medical students has become an increasing concern, given the high prevalence of stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout. In this context, active learning methodologies, such as problem-based learning, clinical simulation, and gamification, have been identified as strategies that not only foster meaningful learning but also promote students’ psychological well-being. Method: This study is an Integrative Literature Review (ILR) grounded in Evidence-Based Practice. The PICo framework guided the research question: What are the impacts of active learning methodologies on the mental health of medical students? Searches were conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and SciELO, including articles published between 2019 and 2025 in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. From 928 studies identified, 22 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed regarding study design, level of evidence, population, and main findings. Results: Most studies were published in English-speaking countries, predominantly with quantitative designs. Findings indicate that active learning methodologies reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout while enhancing engagement, motivation, and socioemotional skills. Discussion: Gaps remain concerning methodological heterogeneity and the lack of longitudinal studies capable of measuring sustained effects. Conclusion: Active learning methodologies emerge as pedagogical resources and strategies for promoting mental health in medical education. Future research should expand longitudinal approaches and explore curricular proposals that integrate academic excellence with psychological well-being.

This study investigated the effectiveness of game-based instruction in improving students’ academic achievement in Science, specifically focusing on the topic Biodiversity and the Healthy Society. The results revealed that students exposed to game-based instruction achieved significantly higher posttest scores compared to those taught using traditional methods, indicating improved comprehension, retention, and active participation in learning. Furthermore, the findings suggested that game-based instruction fosters a more engaging and student-centered learning environment, enhancing motivation and collaboration among learners. These outcomes underscore the potential of game-based learning as a pedagogical tool to address difficulties in Science education and to improve achievement in complex topics such as biodiversity. The study concludes that integrating game-based instruction into Science teaching provides meaningful learning opportunities that positively influence student achievement. It is therefore recommended that educators adopt game-based strategies as a complement to conventional approaches to enhance both engagement and academic success in Science.

This study comprehensively analyzes the current state of physical education (PE) in Vietnam during the 2020-2025 period and proposes a strategic development roadmap to 2030. The analysis shows that despite important reforms in policy and curriculum toward developing comprehensive student capabilities, PE work still faces significant challenges. These challenges include the lack and inconsistency of facilities, teachers' capabilities not meeting innovation requirements, and reliance on traditional pedagogical methods. In this context, the report identifies two core drivers for transformation: the national digital transformation strategy in education and the sustainable development orientation. The report argues that strategically integrating digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Virtual Reality (VR), and innovative teaching models (Blended Learning, OMO) is not merely a technological solution but an essential means to achieve sustainable development goals, specifically ensuring health and well-being (Sustainable Development Goal 3) and quality, equitable education (Sustainable Development Goal 4). Based on the analysis of the current situation and international trends, the report proposes a comprehensive solution roadmap for the 2025-2030 period, focusing on three main pillars: (1) Curriculum and pedagogical innovation, (2) Capacity development for the teaching staff, and (3) Policy and infrastructure improvement. The ultimate goal is to transform physical education from a traditional subject into a dynamic, data-driven, and inclusive field, contributing to the comprehensive development of Vietnam's younger generation.

Grit is a psychological notion that highlights personal tenacity and dedication to long-term goals. This study examines the relationship between the level of grit and academic performance among medical students. A descriptive-correlational study was conducted involving 262 participants. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the gathered data. Results showed that there was no significant difference based on the demographic profiles such as age, sex, or family income, nationality, year level, and student status. The participants were shown to have high levels of grit. Also, a significant relationship was found between grit and academic achievement, as determined by the general weighted average (GWA). The findings underscore the importance of fostering resilience and long-term commitment in medical training. Future research could explore interventions to enhance grit and its impact on student outcomes across diverse educational settings.

Palm fibers have attracted significant attention from researchers due to their potential applications in industrial and environmental sectors. In this research, palm fibers were collected from five types of palm dates trees available in Sebha city farms. The tree types of palm dates and soils were collected from the same regions. The elemental analysis of fibers, dates and soils were measured by using the x-ray fluorescence (XRF). The results showed that the Si, Ca, K, Al, and Fe were available in palm fibers, dates, and soils. To explore useful applications for palm fibers, two different experiments were carried out. In the first experimental phase, bioplastic was prepared following an experiment that consists of three steps. The first step was to prepare (NaOH). In the second step, it called bleaching. In the last step, the bioplastic was prepared, after which the sample was dried and cast in aluminum molds at room temperature. In the second experimental phase, Nano-material (COFe2O) was prepared and used with palm fibers as an environmentally friendly material in the tests of removing crude oil from seawater. This was done by using magnets with five different proportions (0.03, 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, and 0.07 %) of palm fibers and Nano-material. Very promising results were obtained when palm fibers were utilized as composite materials in plastic and crude oil removal applications.

This study aimed to investigate the biochemical and histopathological effects of curcumin on renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) model. Twenty-four female Wistar rats were used in the study and divided into control, sham, I/R, and curcumin groups (n = 6). Laparotomy was performed under general anesthesia in I/R and C groups. The left renal pedicle was dissected, and the renal artery was clamped. Then, 1-h ischemia and 6-h reperfusion were applied. 500 mg/kg Curcumin was given intraperitoneally to the CUR group after ischemia application. MPO, IMA, MDA, NO, SOD, GPx, AOS, urea, and creatinine levels were measured in serum samples. MPO, MDA, NO, SOD, GPx, and AOS were also measured in tissue samples. The histopathological examination was performed. Serum and tissue AOS levels were significantly higher in the CUR group than in the I/R group (P < 0.05). Tissue NO levels were significantly lower in the CUR group than in the I/R group (15.30 ± 5.41 and 4.8 ± 1.37, respectively) (P < 0.05). Histopathological scores were also significantly lower in the CUR group than in the I/R group (P < 0.05). The results showed that curcumin prevented I/R damage by decreasing oxidative stress in serum and tissue samples in rat renal I/R model.

INTRODUCTION: Family planning allows people to attain their desired number of children and determine the spacing of pregnancies. It is achieved through use of contraceptive methods and the treatment of infertility. The aim of this study was to determine various factors that influenced the uptake of modern family planning among women of reproductive age in Northern Nigeria. METHODOLOGY: The study used data obtained from Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) 2013. Factors considered were drawn from the dataset. Analysis was carried out using Stata version 12.1. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine relationship between various factors and use of modern family planning methods. Level of significance was set at 0.05. RESULTS: The total number of participants in the study was 21,037. The mean age of respondents was 29.0±7.1 years. Only 5.3% of the participants were currently using modern family planning methods. The highest proportion of use was 14.3% in the Northcentral zone of Northern Nigeria, while the lowest was 2.38% in Northwest. Identified predictors of modern family planning use were: having at least secondary education (OR=3.8, 95% CI: 3.3-4.4), being from the Northcentral (OR=3.9, 95% CI: 3.4-4.5), being 25 years old or more (OR=1.7, 95% CI: 1.5-2.1) and being of urban residence (OR=2.0, 95% CI: 1.8-2.4). All factors were statistically significant (P<0.001). The highest predictor of modern family planning uptake was geopolitical zone, followed by education. CONCLUSION: Measures should be taken to increase female literacy especially in the North-eastern and North-western zones of Northern Nigeria, as this will most likely lead to improved uptake of modern family planning among the respondents.

The present study is intended to investigate the volatility patterns in Bombay Stock Exchange Limited Sensitivity Index (BSE Sensex) based on time series data collected for 10 years period of time. To reach out the predefined objectives of the study, the authors have employed Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedastic (GARCH) model. The study revealed that the presence of Heteroscedasticiy is found in BSE Sensex. Further, the model produced high accurate results when the researchers compared the estimated results with actual. Furthermore, the volatility of BSE Sensex has shown the features of clustering and significant time varying. Moreover, the model has indicated that there is a positive correlation between daily stock returns and the BSE Sensex volatility.

Glutenins, the major storage proteins of wheat, is determining the end use quality of wheat flour. The HMW-glutenin is strongly associated with elasticity of wheat dough quality resulted in the widespread utilization of HMW-GS in wheat breeding. In this study the allelic compositions of HMW Glutenin were investigated in 62 landraces including 10 advance cultivars of Pakistani wheat by SDS-PAGE. Seven alleles were existed at three Glu-1 loci resulting in 4 HMW-GS combinations. Allelic combination “Null, 6+8, 2+12” was dominant, existed in 62.50% of wheat genotypes. The dominant alleles were; Null at Glu-A1, 6+8 at Glu-B1 and 2+12 at Glu-D1 with 62.50%, 86.11% and 86.11% respectively. Quality score of genotypes were ranked from 4 to 9. The high quality score of 9 was found in 13.86% genotypes (advance cultivars = 1, 7+9, 5+10). Dendrogram based on genetic similarity matrix of HMW-GS delineated genotypes into two Clusters; A and B with three sub-clusters for cluster A. The genotypes were less diverse, form groups with 100% similarity showing strong linkage. This confirmed the utilization of shared gene pool, imitating loss of genetic diversity. In order to stop such genetic erosion, it is obligatory to screen out quality wheat lines, used in present breeding activities to preserve for future quality bread wheat cultivation strategies.

Because of The low complexity of passive filter (PF) compared to the active filter, their high efficiency, ease of installation and its different topologies, they remained the devices basically required in the power system. In order to minimize the harmonic distortion produced by the large industrial loads, harmonic filters should therefore be designed with the utmost rigor, because a poorly designed filter may amplify the undesired harmonics. The determination of the PF components requires both a detailed study of the power system parameters that influence the efficiency and economic viability of the harmonic compensation and the reactive power required by the load. This article study the use of the Cuckoo optimization algorithm (COA), in order to design passive filters with an improved power quality a reduced cost. The optimal filters are connected concurrently to the power system so that each individual Harmonic distortion respects the recommended limits. The results show that the optimized (PF) is effective, and has a lower cost.

Background: Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) is a systemic indicator of inflammatory diseases and is suggested as an oxidative stress marker. The purpose of this study was to determine the IMA and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) serum levels for patients with chronic periodontitis (CP) and to evaluate the impact of non-surgical periodontal therapy on serum IMA and hsCRP levels. Methods: 21 systemically healthy patients with CP and 15 systemically and periodontally healthy individuals (C) were enrolled in the study. Data such as periodontal pocket depth (PPD), bleeding on probing (BOP) and attachment loss (AL) were recorded at the time of diagnosis and 6 weeks after the non-surgical periodontal therapy. Serum IMA and hsCRP levels were evaluated by ELISA method before and after treatment. Results: All of the clinical findings were found to be remarkably elevated in the CP group in comparison to the control group (p<0.05). Levels of IMA and hsCRP were statistically higher in the CP group compared to the control group (p<0.05). IMA and hsCRP levels in CP group decreased remarkably after the non-surgical periodontal therapy (p<0.05). Positive correlations were determined between PPD, BOP values and hsCRP levels. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between PPD, AL, BOP and IMA levels. A significant positive correlation was also observed between hsCRP and IMA. Conclusion: IMA is a marker indicating systemic inflammation during periodontal disease, and nonsurgical periodontal treatment may affect the serum IMA levels. Therefore, IMA might be suggested to be a useful indicator of periodontal disease.

Background: Many inhabitants and migrated people are encountered to uncertain safe food and water annually. So, it is important to develop community-based preparedness and response strategies to prevent foodborne and waterborne diseases. Hypothesis/Problem: In this study preventive and response strategies and proceedings in the shigellosis outbreak in Iran is demonstrated. In addition, the reason of shigellosis epidemic was explained based on the governmental reports. Methods: This cross sectional - census study used descriptive statistics of reported cases and thematic analysis of discussion in focus group meetings to extract key results. The epidemic began on April 20, 2015, in Isfahan, Iran. Results: Chain of incident reporting in our health system clarified the in this study. 8969cases reported (70% were adults in the age group of 13 to 60 years old). Shigella Flexner was diagnosed for 310 cases for cause of the epidemic. Key concepts discussed in meetings included Prevention & Control (Environmental Health proceedings and Education and informing proceedings), Challenges (Surveillance system and Coordination) and Future strategies. Conclusion: Investigations in epidemic prone disease must pinpoint the source and mode of infection and health authorities should be informed if the number of cases exceeds the predefined alert threshold of the disease.
